92% Of Employees Prioritize Learning and Development: The Big Upskill Is Here
New research by e-learning provider imc Learning reports that 92% of employees consider training a deal breaker if choosing between two potential employers, amid a growing trend of employees expecting employers to offer better opportunities for learning and development.
London, June 2023
imc Learning, a leading European e-learning provider, commissioned ‘Research Without Barriers’ to conduct a study that investigated employee satisfaction in connection with continuing education offerings.
The trend, which was sparked by the major societal shift in personal and professional priorities post-pandemic - also known as the Great Resignation or Great Reshuffle - is now being billed as ‘The Great Upskill’.
The Great Upskill is a natural evolution of the Great Resignation, as people seek greater fulfilment and engagement with their working lives. Aside from a greater expectation of flexibility, employees now want to work for employers that help them to enrich their working experience through ‘upskilling’, training, personal and professional development, and by creating engaging career paths for the short, medium and long term. They want to achieve more, know more and generally be more engaged with the work they are doing - a move away from the traditional approach to benefits, which focused heavily on short term perks, like free fruit.
imc research has found that 52% of employees had left a role due to lack of personal or professional development opportunities. Interestingly in this context, 48% of employees have not received training in the last 12 months. The importance of creating pathways early for talent, and following through with them, can reduce the overall staff turnover, keep employees engaged, and help to nurture and retain talent in the long term.
"We've seen the right enterprise learning strategies and e-learning technologies have a direct impact on both staff retention rates and overall employee job satisfaction, particularly among our larger multinational clients." says Russell Donders, Director of International Market Development at imc.

Russel Donders, Director of International Market Development at imc
Russell Donders has worked in the Learning Technology space for over 20 years and has helped countless global enterprises design and implement robust integrated learning ecosystems, including LMS, LXPs, and content management solutions.
Russell is currently imc's Director of International Market Development and responsible for the company's international growth. He nurtures key partnerships with imc clients to help them take their corporate learning to the next level.
A very considerable 86% of employees would remain with their current employer for longer if they were offered frequent L&D opportunities.
The trend isn’t only affecting junior team members. Among managers, 22% now say they do not receive enough training in their current role. This finding chimes with the Great Resignation trend of an average of 20% of the workforce looking for new roles in 2022. In fact, 78% of managers would remain with their current employer for longer if they were offered frequent L&D opportunities. A clear development pathway is therefore key to retaining and nurturing senior team members - and now essential amid the recent talent scarcity concerns.
While economic conditions may influence some businesses to tighten their belts, the rise in demand for well-rounded and tailored training opportunities across all levels doesn’t come at the expense of business interests. Quite the opposite as 81% of managers’ report a positive impact from training on their business bottom line.

Improve your company success with Learning Analytics
The new add-on for the imc Learning Suite allows to make the success of professional development measurable and visible. This has a direct impact on the success of the company.

24.01.23
Making the success of continuing education visible and measurable has always been a concern for Learning and Development managers. Budget managers primarily see one thing: a high invest. However, how much training employees actually receive and to what extent it contributes to the company's goals and business success has been a matter of speculation until now.
This is exactly where the new Learning Analytics add-on for the imc Learning Suite comes in. Learning analytics applies logic and mathematics to learning data to gain insights that enable faster and better decisions to improve learning outcomes. In doing so, the add-on helps organisations measure the effectiveness of their training and development programmes. Through data-driven insights, leaders can identify skills gaps and understand how employees engage with learning materials.
This sound data can greatly assist in making decisions regarding a company's training strategy and can directly contribute to the company's success. It can also lead to better workplace performance, higher employee satisfaction and a better ROI on training investments.

imc receives eLearning Award for “Adaptive Learning”
The eLearning Journal has awarded imc with the eLearning Award 2023 in the category "adaptive learning". From more than 300 submissions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the jury of the eLearning Journal awards innovative projects with showcase character in more than 50 categories.

Saarbruecken, January 2023
In the category "adaptive learning", the "Digit@l Fitness Check" was awarded, which imc developed together with a German car manufacturer to motivate and empower all employees to participate and actively shape the digital transformation.
The Digit@l Fitness Check is a responsive, quiz-based digital learning module with the aim of arousing interest, motivating, imparting basic knowledge on topics of digitization and providing individual orientation on which learning opportunities are most relevant for an employee. To this end, the learning module uses a specially developed scoring system that provides learners with individual learning recommendations based on their answers. In this way, users can receive targeted and individualized training in line with their learning needs.
Since the training is aimed at all employees, the prior knowledge of the learners varies greatly. One of the challenges for the experts was therefore to anticipate and compensate for the possible overload with the large selection of offers. "The feedback shows that the learners are enthusiastic about the novel form of knowledge preparation," explains Sven R. Becker, Board Member of imc. "The deliberately provocative implementation of a „Fitness Challenge“ fits very well with the client's corporate culture and was particularly well received by younger target groups."

Channels: Welcome to the age of self-directed learning
Innovation Pack 14.13 for the imc Learning Suite makes learning more self-determined than ever before
25.07.2022
Corporate learning and the learner's expectations are changing fundamentally. Learners no longer want to put up with dull face-to-face teaching and the cramming of theoretical knowledge. "Learning experience" is the keyword, and this means not only the appealing design of learning content and portals, but also a different kind of learning: personalised, informal and above all self-directed.
Therefore imc introduces a new function which puts learning experience in the center: The Channels. Innovation Pack 14.13 for imc Learning Suite allows a totally new way of self-directed learning.
The new channels are topic-based containers that contain learning nuggets on the respective topics. Learners can subscribe to topics and are always kept up to date via email notifications when there is new content.
The look and feel are reminiscent of familiar platforms such as YouTube or Netflix, making it intuitive for all learners. When consuming a Learning Nugget, a playlist of content from the same channel is displayed at the edge of the screen so learners can quickly move to the next Learning Nugget.
